Cilbar is Founded by The Bana Family.
The Bana family have been involved in clothing industry since 1932, originating with Banco Wholesalers, founded by the late Mr. Ismail Bana and his 5 sons.
From humble beginnings, Banco Wholesalers scaled rapidly creating a vertical operation and investing heavily in infrastructure.
With 5 companies including Cilbar & Co, Banco Wholesalers covered every aspect of clothing, supplying over 6000 retailers.

In 1994 Cilbar & Co became independent and set their focus to outsource manufacturing to China. Cilbar & Co quickly became a major supplier to all chain stores in South Africa
​
In 2003 Cilbar & Co set its focus to supply the Edcon Group, in particular Jet and Edgars. In a span of 8 years Cilbar & Co was dispatching over 1 million garments per month.
The future of sales lies in adjusting to the rapidly progressing technological advancements and creating added value to stay relevant. Cilbar & Co is looking to position itself in the online market to expand its current operations and scale the future growth of e-commerce on the African continent.

COLLABORATIVE BRAND MANAGEMENT
We work with both chain store clientele and up-and-coming brands or individuals. For such individuals, we offer collaborative brand management. This is a service where we use our industry skills and knowledge to define your unique target market and brand goals. Our team is then able to develop and deliver garment styles, set up meetings with relevant partners, define size curves and just about everything else your brand requires. We take away the headaches of sourcing styles or dealing with factories and run with it all.
