Cilbar is Founded by The Bana Family.
The Bana family have been involved in clothing industry since 1932, originating with Banco Wholesalers, founded by the late Mr. Ismail Bana and his 5 sons.
From humble beginnings, Banco Wholesalers scaled rapidly creating a vertical operation and investing heavily in infrastructure.
With 5 companies including Cilbar & Co, Banco Wholesalers covered every aspect of clothing, supplying over 6000 retailers.
In 1994 Cilbar & Co became independent and set their focus to outsource manufacturing to China. Cilbar & Co quickly became a major supplier to all chain stores in South Africa
In 2003 Cilbar & Co set its focus to supply the Edcon Group, in particular Jet and Edgars. In a span of 8 years Cilbar & Co was dispatching over 1 million garments per month.
The future of sales lies in adjusting to the rapidly progressing technological advancements and creating added value to stay relevant. Cilbar & Co is looking to position itself in the online market to expand its current operations and scale the future growth of e-commerce on the African continent.

Africa Clothing expands across a variety of divisions, giving you the benefit of access and
insight across the board. We’re able to use our connections and experience to quickly,
efficiently and expertly deliver. Divisions include:

• Ready-Made Garments • Specialized Denim • Fresh Production
Our Fresh Production division can deliver garments for our customer, based on their unique
requirements. We’re able to manufacture high spec garments both locally and abroad and
our large factory base means that we can select the best teams for the job as well as assist
with factory management and financing.
